Discovery of the HMS Investigator
A Presentation by Marc-André Bernier and Ryan Harris, Parks Canada Archaeologists

Frozen in the ice in Mercy Bay, Banks Island for two winters while on an expedition in search of the missing Franklin expedition, Captain Robert McClure made the decision to abandon the HMS Investigator in June, 1853. The fate of the ship was unknown for 157 years until underwater archaeologists from Parks Canada discovered its intact remains on the sea floor of Mercy Bay in July 2010.
