Shipwrecks to be remembered

Memorial services are planned this week for the captain and crew of the freighter Edmund Fitzgerald, which sank in a Lake Superior storm Nov. 10, 1975.

Wednesday marks the 35th anniversary of the tragedy, immortalized in song by Canadian folk-singer Gordon Lightfoot and still recalled when November gales sweep the Great Lakes. None of the 29 souls on board has ever been recovered and the bodies are believed to be entombed within the wreck.
