There are three dive teams in the water at the Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex at Indian River State College.
Their mission: To recover 3 cars, stuck in the bottom of the pond."We can say: This vehicle was in an accident or used in a crime and there are drugs inside. By using lift bags, we can lift the car and tow it to the edge and have it pulled out," said Pete Gannon, President Dive Rescue International.It is not a real emergency but it is as close as training will allow.It is part of a 5-week course training local and foreign emergency responders what to do when seconds count."The bottom is just mud and once you stir that up, you loose all visibility, everything is done by feel, and there are a lot of straps and things, so they are learning a lot of different skills," said Gannon.Read more...
