Authorities has sent a team of 20 divers to join the search for victims of the Merpati MA 60 aircraft that crashed Saturday in waters off Kaimana, West Papua.
The rescue team will search for the remaining four victims missing after the accident, Kaimana Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Antonius Wantri Julianto said Monday.
“We are continuing the search this morning,” said Antonius said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Earlier, the team recovered the bodies of 21 crash victims from the sunken aircraft.
According to the flight manifest, the aircraft was carrying 25 passengers and crew members at the time of the crash.
“We hope to conclude the search today,” Antonius said.
