Royal Navy Submarine Museum hosts free concert

About My Area -

A surprise free concert by the City of London's prestigious Royal Yeomanry Band has just been announced. It will take place at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport on Thursday 28 July from 12noon.

The concert will be in aid of the Submarine Museum's Saving HMS Alliance campaign that plans to restore the WW2 era submarine, the memorial to 5,300 submariners that have given their lives in service.

Bill Sainsbury, Event Manager said, "We are delighted that the Royal Yeomanry Band have chosen the Submarine Museum as a venue for one of their free concerts. It should be a great afternoon for our visitors"

The band was formed in 1961 following the amalgamation of the Inns of Court Regiment (the Regiment of Lawyers) with the City of London Yeomanry and is still based in the City.

They continue to style themselves on their heritage and still wear the "rough rider" ceremonial uniform. The band are visiting the area and giving free public concerts across the South.
