South Sulawesi Water Police have arrested 10 fishermen for illegally fishing using homemade bombs on Balabalangan waters in Mamuju regency, West Sulawesi.
Aside from detaining the 10 people, the police also confiscated various kinds of evidence, including amotorized boat, 12 homemade bombs each weighing over 2 kilograms, two kilograms of TNT powder, 25 kilograms of potassium and 15 detonators.South Sulawesi Water Police's law enforcement unit head Adj. Comr. Eka Somole said Wednesday that the 10 people were arrested on Saturday when they were about to bomb fishes in Mamuju, West Sulawesi.“The ten fishermen were arrested by on-duty officers,” Eka said, adding that the bombs had the large
potential to destroy the marine resources.The 10 people were later sent to the South Sulawesi Water Police headquarters in Makassar for
questioning. They arrived in Makassar on Wednesday after traveling from Mamuju for three days and three nights.
