A Maine scuba diver said he's seen sharks when he's been under water before, but he's never had one swim at him and attack his camera, apparently mistaking it for a fish.
Scott MacNichol of Perry wasn't hurt in his Saturday encounter with the porbeagle shark off the coast of Eastport. He estimates the shark was eight feet long and weighed about 300 pounds.Video shows the shark swim at his camera, the teeth filling the screen before it swims off.MacNichol said the fish swam around him twice in about 28 feet of water and then began jabbing at his camera.The Bangor Daily News said MacNichol was filming the ocean floor under empty salmon pens as part of an environmental assessment when he came face to teeth with the shark.MacNichol said that he dove in the same spot again on Tuesday.Posted via email from
