Stowaways found on boat in New Bedford

Police have taken two Palestinian men into custody after they were discovered hiding on a cargo ship headed for New Bedford.

The stowaways were discovered on board the Prince of Sounds days ago as the cargo vessel headed towards New Bedford carrying fruit.

The Prince of Sounds remained three miles off-shore since Thursday and finally docked Saturday. Authorities from several law enforcement agencies then boarded the boat to detain the men, including teams from the Customs Bureau Patrol, the Coast Guard, and New Bedford police and fire.

Authorities say the men are cooperating with investigators and are not considered dangerous nor to have any ties to terrorism.
