As the general public was urged to hoist the national flag high during the National Day celebration of Brunei Darussalam, a group of divers took a step further to show their love for the country by unfurling the flag under Brunei waters.
In a display of patriotism, a group of local and foreign divers from Oceanic Quest held up the national flag underwater.
Three staff from Oceanic Quest Company and five divers set out to the Rig Reef, a well known dive site in Brunei, to carry out their mission of holding up the national flag underwater last Sunday.
The weather was perfect and after a boat ride of more than half-an-hour to the destination, the team dived 16 metres below and managed to hold the national flag.
Eddie Chan, one of the staff from Oceanic Quest who participated in the special trip, said, "We wanted to celebrate the Brunei National Day in a special way and so we set out to hold the national flag with pride underwater."
"It's a special way of celebrating the National Day because we always see the national flag hoisted up in the sky but not underwater.
