Couple to wed underwater in Hundred Islands Park

Liezle Basa Iñigo -

A renewal of wedding vows between a couple will be held underwater Sunday, ahead of Valentine’s Day, off Kagaw Island, which is part of the Hundred Islands National Park in Pangasinan, city officials revealed.

Alaminos City Mayor Hernani Braganza will officiate the underwater wedding ceremony with eight other licensed scuba divers witnessing the event.

Alaminos Tourism Officer Mike Sison said the couple from Manila had long wanted a wedding underwater but only found the chance to do so this year so they will just have to renew their wedding vows.

Sison did not give the names of the couple but said that those who dream of the same type of wedding can arrange it with the Alaminos Tourism Office for next year’s schedule.

“The important thing is that the couple are experts in scuba diving,” he said.

After the unique wedding ceremony, Braganza will lead a traditional mass wedding ceremony for city couples to celebrate Hearts’ Day Monday.
