A Dutch tourist, Jan Willem van Geseel, died during a swim in Legian beach in Bali on Thursday.
“The victim, along with a crowd of tourists, at around 3:15 p.m. was going to enjoy the beach by swimming…” Head of the Kuta Water Police Post First Insp. A.A. Putu Wismara Putra said, as quoted by Antara. A large wave then appeared and the Balawisata coast guard warned visitors to swim to the shore. However, a wave then swept away van Geesel. “The victim signaled for help by waving arms, and the Balawisata coast guard swam to save the victim by dragging him to the shore,” Wismara Putra said. The coast guard succeeded, but the victim was already too weak, and died in the BIMC Kuta hospital. Van Geesel, who was 63, was staying in room No. 341 at the Jayakarta hotel in Kuta. The body has been taken to RSUP Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar.Posted via http://batavia08.posterous.com batavia08's posterous
