Four Russian crewmembers die in Sea of Japan collision

RT -

A freighter ship manned by a Russian crew has sunk in the Sea of Japan after a collision. At least four of the members have reportedly died and seven are missing.

One of the sailors has been picked up by a South Korean patrol ship which was sent to the rescue, a coastguard official told the media.

The incident happened on early morning some 16 nautical miles from the Korean port city of Ulsan.

A preliminary investigation said the vessel “Aleksandra” may have collided with another vessel.

The rescue operation is still underway. A helicopter and several patrol boats are involved in the search and rescue operation.
