Ukrainian to travel around the world under water

A Ukrainian intends to travel around the world alone on the underwater swimming device, local media said on Wednesday.

The man named Fedor Konyukhov, from Zaporozhie region in southern Ukraine, is to start the trip in 2012. He will use the underwater submarine called "North-2" made in the USSR. It is the civil watercraft, which have a variety of uses, including tourism, exploration, oil and gas platform inspections. This self-propelled apparatus was given to traveler by sponsors.

Konyukhov decided to sail the globe in a submarine because his fascination with the books of Jules Verne. In his childhood he dreamed about underwater trip and the romance of the sea.Fedor prepared himself for such cruise from an early age. He learned to swim, dive, go on the boat by oars and sale.

Konyukhov is very famous in Post-Soviet countries. He made four circumnavigations and crossed the Atlantics fourteen times.Konyukhov is the only person in the world to have reached the five Poles of the planet. < Traveler awarded the Order Peoples Friendship of USSR, a diploma of UNESCO for contributions to ecology and honored with a rank Master of Sports.
